Curriculum

The Master of Philosophy program at the University of Szeged is divided into two parts: theoretical philosophy and history of philosophy. The courses in theoretical philosophy deal with philosophical problems in the field of metaphysics, epistemology, moral and political philosophy, aesthetics and philosophy of mind. The history of philosophy courses do not give an overview of the entire philosophical tradition but deal in detail with authors and historical problems of all periods: from Antiquity to the present day. The Master's program contains four tutorial seminars in order to encourage students to carry out research in line with their own scientific interests from the very beginning of their studies.

The program consists of compulsory and of elective courses. While compulsory courses are bound to semesters, elective courses can be performed according to a flexible study plan. As the program aims at developing independent research skills, tutorial seminars are provided from the very beginning of the curriculum. Tutorial seminars are devoted to enable the students to participate in future PhD programs either at Doctoral Program of our Department or at other institutions. The students fulfill their curriculum by earning 100 credits according to the following structure.
