Evaluation Criteria and Scoring System of the National Higher Education Scholarship Committee
2025

I. General Criteria

• Academic performance (including language certificates, according to the regulations of the University of Szeged): 70%

• Professional activities beyond curriculum requirements related to the field of application: 20%

• Community and cultural activities: 10%

The Committee can only consider items supported by relevant attached documentation. Providing false information leads to automatic disqualification.

II. Academic Performance

Results achieved in the academic year of the application

• Scoring based on the Credit Index (KKI): Points calculated to two decimal places, rounded up from 0.5

• Language exam:

- Intermediate (B2) complex exam: 3 points

- Advanced (C1) complex exam: 5 points

Excluded:

- Non-complex exams

- Foreign language certificates without official recognition

- Language exams taken by students majoring in the same language (regardless of level)

- If different level exams were taken in the same language, only the higher level will be considered by the Committee.

III. Professional Activities Beyond Curriculum

In the academic year of the application (Maximum available points: 20)

• National Scientific Students’ Associations Conference (OTDK) 1st–3rd place, special prize: 20 points

• Demonstrator activity in the department: max. 10 points (depending on the nature of the activity)

• Independent or group research beyond curriculum requirements: max. 5 points

• Organizing exhibitions or conferences: max. 5 points

• Conference participation: max. 5 points

• Published or accepted publications:

- In a foreign language: max. 5 points

- In Hungarian: max. 4 points

Note: For conference participation and publication, only items that appeared in the academic year of the application are considered. In case of publication in a conference volume, only one activity may be scored.

Excluded:

- Activities unrelated to the field of application

- OTDK achievements not gained as a University of Szeged student

- Participation in local (non-national) student conferences

- Publications still in process (not yet accepted)

- Research directly linked to curricular requirements

- Activities already awarded by another excellence scholarship

IV. Community and Cultural Activities

• Student Union (HÖK) committee membership: 10 points

• Major-specific student representation or equivalent activity: max. 5 points

- Delegated and participated in departmental council meetings: 5 points

- Not delegated as a council member: 3 points

• Other community or cultural activity: max. 5 points per activity

Excluded: Activities before the start of the student's current program, political activities, religious practice-related activities

V. Tie-Breaker

In the case of a tie in total points, academic performance will be the basis of ranking.
