Call for Papers - Trimarium. History and Literature of Central and Eastern European Countries 2/2023

Please accept our invitation to publish an article in the first issue of the new scientific quarterly, Trimarium. History and Literature of Central and Eastern European Countries issued by the Institute of Literature in Krakow. The main purpose of the journal will be to present the history and literature of the various countries of Central and Eastern Europe, including the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Ukraine and Hungary (especially in the 20th and 21st centuries), with a perspective of expanding to other Trimarium countries. It is the task of the quarterly to present the point of view of scholars from the aforementioned countries, as opposed to that of foreign researchers. In addition to the regular historical and literary sections with a theme assigned to each, there will be a Varia section, as well as a journalistic one. The journal is aimed at an international audience, combining scientific merit with the idea of spreading knowledge about the region to English-speaking readers. Hence, the print version of the quarterly will be published in English, while the electronic one will also be available in the authors’ original languages.

The historical part of the second issue will reflect on the topics of creating and merging state organisms after World War I shown as an economic problem. In the case of each Central or Eastern European country, there were major changes from the pre-war period in terms of how the economies operated. This was true for the revived, newly formed states, as well as for the pre-existing ones that underwent regime changes and significant territorial alterations. Changes in economic structures, supply chains, customs borders, tax and currency regimes created a completely new situation in the region. In the articles on the problems, challenges and changes faced by your country (before 1939), please include such issues as:

● To what extent did the construction of the state structures hamper the economic development? Was there a noticeable reverse phenomenon?

● What actions of the neighbors affected the hindered development in the economic area? Were they deliberate, or did they result from clashing concepts for development or interests?

● What did the transformation of supply chains look like in the new reality?

● Which important economic phenomena during the inter-war period affecting the national economic situation were global, and which occurred regionally?
